We're continuously releasing new features and functionality for the JSTOR platform based on your valuable feedback. Here are some of the most recent updates.
August 2024
- You can now select and delete multiple images you've uploaded to Workspace in bulk. See Workspace: Uploading Items to learn more.
- You can now select multiple images you've uploaded to Workspace and add them to a folder in bulk. See Workspace: Uploading Items to learn more.
- Institutions who use Canvas LMS can now enable it as an access method in JSTOR Admin. The Canvas LMS integration allows instructors to add a link to JSTOR’s homepage to their course navigation for seamless access to the content your institution subscribes to. When users follow the link, they’ll be automatically logged in to JSTOR without additional login requirements. See Access Management: Canvas LMS Integration to learn more.
July 2024
- When presenting a folder in Workspace, presentations will now resume from the last item you displayed. See Workspace: Presenting Research to learn more.
- When presenting an item in full screen, the "Compare" button is now the "More items" button. Select additional items to compare them alongside the current item, or click on an item thumbnail to jump forward or backward in your presentation. See Using Compare Mode for JSTOR Images to learn more.
- In addition to presenting from a folder, you can now also present directly from an item in Workspace, allowing you to start your presentation anywhere in your folder. See Workspace: Presenting Research to learn more.
June 2024
- You can now download individual items directly from List or Gallery view in your Workspace by using the three-dot overflow menu after the item name.
- There's a new custom ordering experience in Workspace, including the ability to select and move multiple items at once. See Workspace: Custom Order to learn more.
- You can now delete items you've uploaded to your Workspace.

- When viewing an item in your Workspace, you can now navigate through items within the same folder using the next and previous item buttons at the top of the page or the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard.
April 2024
- Administrators for institutions who use Alma (Ex Libris) can now set up automatic holdings for Books at JSTOR content, including Open Access titles. See JSTOR & ProQuest/Ex Libris Discovery Resources to learn more.
- In addition to saving what you find on JSTOR, you can now supplement content in your Workspace with your own uploaded images. Your uploaded content can be used with all of Workspace's tools including exports, presenting and comparing in full screen, and sharing with members of your institution. See Workspace: Uploading Items for more.
- Administrators can now view data on their institution’s user activity on the JSTOR platform beyond COUNTER metrics with a new Engagement Report. This report includes counts for items views and downloads, as well as logins, browsing, advanced searches, saves to Workspace, and full-screen presentation use.

- When searching for images on JSTOR, you can now filter your search results by contributor and/or collection, including Artstor collections.
- You can now download individual images directly from your search results with a single click.
- When searching for images on JSTOR, you can now sort your results by Creator.
- Administrators can now request COUNTER usage reports for the Artstor platform via the JSTOR SUSHI endpoint with an optional "platform" parameter. See SUSHI reports: COUNTER 5 overview for more.

- When searching for images on JSTOR, you can now filter your results by Image Resolution, as well as sort by Title or Resolution.
- To help you find items and folders you worked with recently, you can now sort by Last Modified in your Workspace. See Workspace: Viewing and Organizing your Research for more.

- Administrators, your institution's Artstor usage reports are now available in JSTOR Admin. In addition to JSTOR, you now have the option to create or schedule COUNTER 5 usage reports for the Artstor platform previously available only through Artstor's reporting tools. We've also added two new custom COUNTER reports for usage of the Artstor open and licensed collections on JSTOR at the collection and item level.
- You can now download and save zoomed image detail views to your Workspace. From your Workspace, you can compare image detail views side by side, export them to reference lists or presentation slides, or download them for offline use.
- When viewing images and panoramas on JSTOR, the viewing window will now remain at the top of the screen when scrolling the item page.
- When downloading images on JSTOR, the item's title, creator, and date will now be included in the filename.
December 2023
- There's a new page layout for images on JSTOR. The new format is more consistent with other content types found on JSTOR, action buttons such as Save and Cite are more mobile-friendly, and metadata is now organized to the left of the image viewer.
- Primary sources on JSTOR now include panorama and video content with searchable transcripts for spoken word content. If your search results contain panorama or video items, you can filter your results in the Refine Results sidebar under Primary Source Content. Explore video and panorama on JSTOR.

- Primary sources on JSTOR now include audio content with searchable transcripts for spoken word content. If your search results contain audio items, you can filter your results for audio in the Refine Results sidebar under Primary Source Content. Explore The Chapel Collection from Tuskegee University to try out the audio experience on JSTOR.

- When saving or moving an item in your Workspace, you can save a click by using the Save/Move button next to a folder. In addition, if a folder contains image items, you'll see a thumbnail image next to the folder name for quicker identification.

- When saving or moving an item in your Workspace, you can now search for a folder or see your three most recently-modified folders within the Save/Move menu. In addition, folder names will now be announced to screen readers when selected.
- In compare mode, you can now save items to your Workspace.
- In present mode, you can now tab through items in a folder using the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard.
- In addition to Google, institutions can now choose Microsoft Azure as their single sign-on (SSO) provider for institutional access and personal JSTOR account creation. Admins can set up Microsoft SSO authentication on JSTOR by adding their school’s domain(s) under "Access Methods" in JSTOR Admin.

- You can now search for items you've saved to your JSTOR Workspace. For now, you can search names of folders and subfolders, as well as Title(s) and Creator(s) of individual items in your Workspace.

- Based on feedback from our contributors, Custom Fields now display above and before the License/Rights/Rights Notes, Resource Type, File Name, and SSID fields for images and primary source items on JSTOR. This ensures that users see descriptive metadata fields before administrative fields.

- Based on feedback from our contributors, "Item Date" is now "Date" in the metadata displayed for images and primary sources on JSTOR.

- When viewing a journal article, you can now see what other articles, book chapters, or research reports on JSTOR cite that article under "Cited by".
- You can now save a copy of a shared folder to your Workspace, then make changes to your copied folder such as renaming it, saving additional items to it, or sharing it with others at your institution.

- In addition to terms from from Getty's Union List of Artist Names® (ULAN) and Art & Architecture Thesaurus® (AAT), when searching on JSTOR, searches for variants of location names from Getty's Thesaurus of Geographic Names® (TGN) will now return relevant results that have been cataloged with the preferred term and vice versa. This includes keyword searches, searches using fields, and when performing an Advanced Search.
- View at-a-glance usage information for your institution including Licensed titles, Open Access titles, and Access-denied title frequency on the JSTOR Admin homepage.
- Administrators can now view usage reporting for your institution's Community Collections for a specific date range by selecting a start and end date for the report.
