Creating user accounts
Administrators can invite users to register for a personal JSTOR account by adding them through the User Management page in JSTOR Admin.
Creating personal accounts through User Management ensures user access to tools such as Workspace and automatically pairs accounts to your institution so they can access your institution's content whether they're on or away from campus. Learn more about the Benefits of a personal JSTOR account.
To create new users:
- Log into JSTOR Admin with a personal account that has administrative permissions.
- Not an admin yet? See Accessing JSTOR Admin to get started.
- Select User Management in the JSTOR Admin sidebar.
- Click the Add users button.
- Enter one or more email addresses in the "Email Address" field.
- You can enter multiple email addresses separated by commas to add users in bulk.
- Optionally, select the "These user(s) are JSTOR administrators" checkbox to grant users administrative permissions.
- See "Granting users admin permissions" for more information.
- Click the Submit button.
Users whose email addresses are not already associated with a personal JSTOR account will receive an invitation to complete their registration and their account will be paired to your institution.
- If a user's email address is already associated with a personal JSTOR account but doesn't appear in the user list, they'll receive an email notifying them that now have access to JSTOR through your institution.
- If they already appear in the user list, their remote access period will simply be renewed.
