JSTOR partners with several Discovery Service providers in order to enable effective surfacing of JSTOR content in participants' Discovery Service or Layer.
Discovery Service Providers
JSTOR sends metadata for books and journals on a regular basis via FTP to the following four major Discovery Service providers for indexing in their web-scale discovery platforms:
- EBSCO - EBSCO Discovery Service
- ProQuest / Ex Libris - Alma, Primo, & Summon
- OCLC - WorldCat Discovery
Mutual participants can search for and select or activate the various JSTOR collections they currently license in our Partner’s systems. For additional assistance in activating your JSTOR collections in your Discovery Layer, please see Discovery Service Issues, Escalation, and Troubleshooting.
In addition to the four major Discovery Service vendors, JSTOR partners with several other Discovery Service providers (including international providers):
- Baidu
- CNKI Tongfang Knowledge Network Technology Co., Ltd.
- Naver Corporation
- SemperTool / GLORIAD
- Modern Language Association: (Only book metadata sent)
- Suweco
- Third Iron LLC (Only journal archive and JHP metadata sent)
- Informatics Publishing Limited (India): (Only journal archive metadata sent)
If you are a Discovery Service Provider interested in partnering with JSTOR, please email discoveryservices@ithaka.org for more information. JSTOR Discovery Partner requests will be evaluated to ensure that we are building the most appropriate relationships for our participating libraries.
JSTOR Metadata Recipients
JSTOR also works with Metadata Recipients who are both participating JSTOR institutions and non JSTOR participants who request JSTOR metadata (JSTOR Archive, Thematic Collections, JHP Content, and Books at JSTOR) for the purposes of creating their own in-house Discovery layer, cataloging purposes, or creating links to JSTOR content.
JSTOR Metadata Requests will be reviewed by our Legal and Discovery Teams to determine if we will extend a JSTOR Metadata Rider (for JSTOR participants) or JSTOR Data Sharing License Agreement (non JSTOR participants). If you are interested in requesting and receiving JSTOR metadata, please email discoveryservices@ithaka.org for more information.
