Notifications help administrators share important messages with JSTOR users in prison or jail. This can include information such as pauses in media review, required information for media requests, or other platform announcements.
Admins can target messages to facilities, where JSTOR users at the facility will see notifications near the top of each page.
Creating notifications
To create a new notification:
- Log into admin.pep.jstor.org with a personal JSTOR account with administrator permissions for your facility.
- Need assistance logging in? Contact us at aip@jstor.org.
- Open the Support drop-down menu and select Notifications.
- Select the New notification button.
- Under Notification message, enter the message that will appear in the notification banner.
- The maximum length for a message is 750 characters.
- Under Facilities, choose which facilities will see the message.
- Under Schedule, select the date range during which the notification will appear for users.
- Select a Notification type. We recommend using:
- "Informational" for instructions or policies. Example: "Please include your facility, class, and ID number in your requests."
- "Warning" for critical information. Example: "Please be aware, the reviewer will be out of town from ___ to ___."
- Under Preview, you can review how your message will appear.
- Select Submit to finish creating the notification.
Editing notifications
To edit an existing notification:
- Log into admin.pep.jstor.org with a personal JSTOR account with administrator permissions for your facility.

- Open the Support drop-down menu and select Notifications.
- Select the Edit button in the Actions column for the notification you want to edit.
- Make your desired edits and preview your changes.
- Select Submit to save your changes.
Deleting notifications
To delete an existing notification:
- Log into admin.pep.jstor.org with a personal JSTOR account with administrator permissions for your facility.

- Open the Support drop-down menu and select Notifications.
- Select the Delete button in the Actions column for the notification you want to delete.
- Select Submit to confirm you want to delete the notification.
Important: Deleted notifications cannot be recovered.
